Description

The Tops Baja 4.5 is the bigger brother of their Baja 3.0. In place of the Coyote Tan powder coat it features TOPS' Black River Wash, which gives each knife its own unique look. Green Canvas Micarta handle scales and a high-quality black leather dangler sheath are completing the configuration.

Unlike TOPS’ other models in the 4 to 4.5 inch range, this one is 5/32” thick. That thickness along with a full flat grind gives it strength over 1/8” blades, but allows it to maintain superb cutting capabilities since it’s slightly thinner than 3/16”. The jimping on the spine and along the finger guard is ideal for a solid grip in hard use or slippery conditions. Due to the thinner blade, it gives you better precision and greater range from making delicate cuts to cutting thick branches with ease. These same qualities make the BAJA 4.5 great for food prep as well.

The Steel Eagle 107D was the first model TOPS ever made. With the success of that knife, this hunter’s or drop point version 107C was an obvious next step. Those that will be using their Steel Eagle mostly for outdoors tasks, may find the usability of a blade with belly to be more to their liking.

This Steel Eagle Delta Class 107C model now comes with the 'Midnight Bronze' finish, sandwiched Micarta, and the tan Kydex just like its tanto point counterpart. It also comes with the same strength, durability, versatility, and dependability as the 107D.

The Tops 'El Chete' is a large chopping knife with a blade of 30.5cm made of 1095 Carbon steel of a thickness of 6.29cm.- The 'EL Chete' blade comes with Tops' new 'Acid Rain'-Finish which is a bit different from knife to knife so every piece is unique.- The handle of 'El Chete' is made of black and brown** sandwiched Micarta with a red separator in between.-

The 'El Chete' knife is shipped with a front-open Kydex sheath with a Pull-The-Dot-Snap so the large knife doesn't have to be pulled vertically out of the sheath but can be flapped out after opening the closure.-

TOPS offers 2 different sheath attachment for the El Chete, oneCopping features the 360° metal belt clip* known from a lot of other TOPS models and the Dangler attachment shown here.-

The Tex Creek area is a region with a lot of wilddlife, mountains, rivers and 2 national forests in northeast Idaho close to the Tops facility were the Tops designers and knifemakers have the ability to fieldtest their products....

The Tex Creek is a typical Tops knife made of 1095 Carbon Steel and a blade length of 10.4cms which is coated in the - as TOPS named it - Black River Wash showing the lower part where the blade is hardened in a darker color.- This line varies from knife to knife making each knife unique.-

The Tex Creek's handle features a large lanyard eyelet of 7,5mm diameter, the handle scales are made of black Canvas Micarta.- The Tex Creek is shipped with an open dark brown leather sheath.

MINI SCANDI KNIFE

Originally designed from the Finnish sami knife, used by the Laplanders for all their hunting and bushcraeft tasks. These knives have traditionally been flat ground, single or double sided, with a "zero-ground" edge--ground to the edge.

It occurred to TOPS that a good idea is still a good idea in a smaller package. The "Mini Scandi" was a result of the very popular, original Brothers of Bushcraft (BROS-01) knife.
It offers all the advantages of a Scandi grind in a neck/small sheath knife, just more concealable.

The Tops Tahoma field knife is a massive outdoor knife intended - as TOPS points out - for military use as well as for civil use.- That is why TOPS offers the Tahoma Field Knife with a double edged blade as well as with a single edged blade with a top false edge which is presented here.- With a blade of 5mm thickness and a length of more then 21cm, the Tahoma Field Knife is convenient for chopping as well as for fine carving tasks if the finger choil on the lower side of the blade is used bringing the hand closer to the blade.-

The notch on the spine of the blade of the Tahoma is used for scoring materials to create a weak point to break, as well as break wire by work hardening it, and pulling pots and similar items out of a fire.The overall shape of the handle is made for ergonomics and to give the user a better grasp like on a machete. Dual spindle sockets for a bow drill make it safe to use left or right hand operation. On the pommel of the knife is a pry bar, shaped and positioned so that if given a backseat grip on the knife during chopping, it would not cut, or wear into the users hand.

The TOPS Tahoma Field Knife is delivered with a black Ballistic Nylon sheath with MOLLE-backing and a front accessory pocket.-

Tolles Messer!

Habe das Messer seit ca. 3 Jahren in Verwendung und bin sehr zufrieden damit. Ein ziemlich wuchtiges schweres Messer, das aber excellent ausbalanciert ist wie ich finde und genial in der Hand liegt. Hacken, schneiden, spalten, schnitzen von auch größeren Holzstücken sind ein Vergnügen mit dem Messer. Schleifbarkeit ist auch genial, mit sehr wenig Aufwand kann man das Messer jederzeit wieder rasiermesserscharf bekommen (Keramikteller und Stück Leder z.B.). Der Preis ist ziemlich gestiegen in den 3 Jahren aber auch die 150,- EUR sind gut investiert finde ich.

Sehr zu empfehlen!

Einerseits ist es ein "Heavy Iron", gleichzeitig ein sehr gut zu handhabendes Werkzeug für alle möglichen Anwendungszwecke im Outdoor-Bereich. Habe bis jetzt alles damit kurz+klein bekommen, was ich mir vorgenommen habe. Der Griff ist ein Handschmeichler.

Habe das TOPS diesen Sommer gestest.
Es kam rasiermesserscharf bei mir an, wurde ausgiebig zum Kleinholz machen verwendet. Ist jetzt immer noch küchenmesserscharf.
Hat eine wirklich gute Werkzeuggröße - ist für alles vom Wurstschneiden (natürlich ist es mit der breiten Klinge hier schwierig dünne Salamischeiben zu machen) bis zum Holz machen (Unterstandbau, Feuerholz machen) sehr gut verwendbar.
Die Versionen sowohl mit dem Messer als Haltegriff für den Bohrer bei der Bogenfeuertechnik als auch den mitgelieferten Feuerstahl habe ich beide einmal probiert, klapt problemlos!
Jetzt fehlt mir nur die Wildnis, wo das Messer wirklich unbedingt dabei sein muss ;-)

PS - habe aus Paracord ein 1m Stück als Laynard durch die Grifföse geknüpft. Da hat man die Bogensehne bzw den Fang immer dabei
